About Blackburn Children’s University™
Blackburn Children’s University™ is currently in its third year of running. I have been the Manager from the very beginning and I am enjoying it more and more every year. I can still remember our very first sign up event in 2010. We are increasing our provision of out of school activities for the children, which are becoming more varied each year.
During the past year Blackburn Children’s University™ has offered children a variety of activities which have been after school, in the holidays and at some weekends. The University Centre, Blackburn College has helped to run a number of activities for children, including an Introduction to Children’s University™, Art and Sport Sessions, Childhood Studies and Complementary Medicine.
In the holidays children have been able to take part in various activities including fun science, sports science, animal fun sessions, multi sports with maths and literacy, arts and crafts, team building at Blackburn Rovers Community Trust and fun with space.
In March 118 children went on a trip to Blackpool Zoo. This trip was enjoyed by all including the staff who volunteered from each school. In June 100 children went to Hothersall Lodge where they took part in various outdoor activities, including shelter and fire building, zip wire and caving.
I am really excited about the future and the new challenges ahead for Blackburn Children’s University™ and look forward to seeing you soon.
